From Up North to Northland

A Trip to Papa and Granna's June 09

Kevin went to take a grad class at Northland so we all came to meet at Kevin's parents for a family reunion. We haven't seen some for almost 2 years!
The cousins are having a blast and the adults are having fun catching up and all the fun that comes with a Williams Reunion.

A visit to the camp site-Pioneer Village

$200 Bunk Beds!

We really needed to get Bunkbeds with this new one coming in Sept. They are so expensive though.
We were looking at several options and then looked at this classified website.
We found this ad for Bunkbeds $200 with both mattresses. I thought something must be wrong with them.
The picture of them wasn't very good with toys and junk piled around them and stickers on the bed frame.
Kevin wanted to look more carefully at them and check into them. I asked if any slates were broken or if the mattresses were stained.
They replied back that they were hardly used and less than a year old (it was a divorce situation and the kids hardly were there)
So Kevin went to go get them and here they are!
They are perfect. In great condition and so nice.
I can't believe that we got 2 mattresses and the bunkbeds for $200!
The Lord is so good to us.
We are so thankful for what He did.
Hudson just thinks his bunkbed is GREAT!
Haddon will move over to the bottom this summer.

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Hudson got a Shark Kite for Christmas
He has asked me about everyday if he could fly it.
"Not until the snow melts"
Well thankfully the snow has melted!

Haddon was just as excited. More excited about running free all over the big field though!

Hudson's First Visit to the Dentist

Looking at the HUGE x-ray machine before using it.
With the digital x-rays now it is a lot different than when we were children.
I thought that this could look scary but Hudson did great. Those blue things went around
his head and he had to bite onto that yellow thing. (They lowered it to his height)

Celebrating Easter with Resurrection Eggs

When I taught school I got these Resurrection Eggs to do with the kids.
It was fun to get them out with the boys and go through the story of Easter.
It goes through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus with different pieces in each egg.
The last egg has nothing in it! Yeah, because the tomb was empty and Jesus is Risen just as He said!
Haddon just enjoyed playing with the eggs

Hudson the Daycare

Hudson got all his animals out one day and set up a daycare for them
He kept running and telling me what the animals were doing; "they are eating lunch now"," so-and- so is sick so I am taking care of them." Then they all had nap time. :) Too funny!

Papa and Granna's Visit

We somehow inherited this big horse from some friends. It is huge!
Hudson loves it though and I'm sure Haddon will too one day.
Hudson puts on his hat and goes crazy on the thing.

Hudson is really into games now and got his fill with Papa and Granna being here.

The Boy's Personalities

Haddon has been deemed by many as "The perfect baby". We must say that you really couldn't improve on him much. I think of grace when I think of Haddon. Grace is getting something we don't deserve. Kevin and I have received God's grace for salvation. We surely never deserved a relationship with almighty God through His son Jesus. We benefit from that relationship everyday and will for eternity in heaven. We know that because of our dirty sinful hearts we deserve death in hell. God's Grace is amazing! Haddon reminds us of God's grace. Everyday this last year I have thought "I don't deserve such a good baby as Haddon; what did I do to deserve this? " The answer -Nothing. Just like grace their is nothing we can do to earn it or deserve it. I praise God for my living picture of Grace!
Haddon is almost always happy and smiling or laughing. He loves to make people laugh and laughs at anyone who is even remotely funny.
Haddon is also very serious about food! Meal time at our house is quite different depending on what seat you look at. Haddon can't be deterred from his focus on food and lots of it. We are already saving up for when this boy becomes a teenager. :)
Hudson on the other hand is our daily meal entertainment. It seems almost impossible for Hudson to not sing through the whole meal. We have tried to curb it but singing and eating go hand in hand for him. We have to tell him quite often-no more singing or talking until you are finished. If Hudson had his way dinner would take all evening.
Hearing Hudson's versions of songs can be quite interesting and funny.
The Muffin Man
Do you know the muffet man? The muffet man? The muffet man? Who lives in surgery? Oh yes I know the muffet man.
Ba Ba Black Sheep
Ba Ba Black Sheep have you any war?
Yes sir, yes sir 9 days 4
One for my master, and one for my day, and one for the little boy that lives down the day.
Jack and Jill
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pile of water--uhh Hudson it is pail of water, pail is like a bucket.
ohhh..
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a bucket of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.
Hudson it is pail not bucket-I just meant a bucket is like a pail.
Jill and Jack went up the hill to fetch a pile of water
Jill fell down and broke her arm and Jack came tumbling after.
Never mind Hudson.. :)
At breakfast time Hudson tries to tell me that he wants candy most of the time. Hudson would you like oatmeal or cereal. "Maybe I just need some jelly beans?"
One day he asked for Green beans for breakfast. Are you sure Hudson? He was sure that was what he wanted so I got out a can of green beans to show him. That wasn't exactly what he had in mind. Just Green Jelly Bellies.
I was telling Hudson what we were going to do that day.. probably involved something not fun like cleaning. He came back with "Mommy I have a better idea let's go play football outside!"
We love our growing boys. They bring lots of fun and laughter to our home!

Millennium Place

Millennium Place
The other side of the ice skating rink is this nice playground for younger kids.
You can ice skate, play and swim all with one really reasonable price of admission

A blurry picture of Ryan and Kate who skated with us. The Smids watch Hudson and Haddon quite often and Hudson just loves them.

Enjoying January

We had a week of above freezing temperatures. It was great! Edmonton has such dry, dry snow that it is beautiful but not really useful in making snowmen, forts, snowballs etc... So when it gets above freezing for a few days we can't really build a rolling ball snowman but a snow blob!
So there is our snow blob

Haddon enjoyed finally being able to get out in the snow.

Hudson ice skating for the first time.

The had these neat "walkers" to help the kids stay up on the ice.

Hudson really enjoyed it and did great.

He is becoming a true Canadian.
